September 2015 - Jamie Burr

JamieBurr.jpgI am originally from the Garden of Eden where all Jews started....Passaic, NJ.

My family moved to Clifton when I was 9 where I met my wife to be, Lori.
She was 1 at the time but the age gap narrowed as we got older. It was much better when I was 18 and she was 10.
I call Clifton High School my alma mater, but I then went to Cornell and graduated with an MBA in Finance and a BS in Operations

Research. Currently I am a Financial Advisor with Lincoln Invest-ment Planning in Iselin, NJ

The greatest influences on me were my mother and father. When I was 8 years old, my father told me, and I never forgot it---

"Never trust anybody. They're all out to get you!"

My mother taught me when I was 10 to appreciate the finer things in life ---

Bulgari, Cartier, Hermes, Polo Purple Label, and you buy something and it's not expensive, IT'S NO GOOD!

My hobby is eating small plates of very good food, skiing, reading, and arguing with my daughter. Oh, and “honey do's”.

My wife Lori is a chef with her own company, delish! catering. My son Corey, 29 is a web designer with McGraw Hill, my daughter Kate, 25 is a director with the food public relations firm, The Door, and my son Zachary is a junior at Kelly Business School at Indiana University.

So far Israel has been the most meaningful place I have visited. I love seeing places I only have read about and drinking in the sights, smells, and sounds

When I left my previous business about 10 years ago, I decided to cross off one of my bucket list goals to become more active in Shomrei Torah. I joined the board and participated in the Strategic Planning Initiative. I still enjoy helping out by chairing the personnel committee.

Thank you Jamie, for your time, your efforts, and your generosity on be-half of Shomrei Torah, and most of all, for making us laugh!
