Mitzvah Corps
Mitzvah Corps
The Mitzvah Corps is a committee of the synagogue that is responsible for getting people to do kind acts. Some synagogues call it a Chesed Committee or Social Action Committee. As ongoing projects the Mitzvah Corps has volunteers go to Emeritus of Wayne, an assisted living facility in Wayne, every Friday with Rabbi Mark to bring in Shabbat with the Jewish residents. The Mitzvah Corps participates in the Passaic County Interfaith Hospitality Network by bringing and having dinner with the homeless families and spending the evening with them during their stay in Wayne. The Mitzvah Corps also works with members in a variety of ways a member is sick or needs a ride.
There are a lot of people who make Shomrei Torah such a warm and welcoming place to be. Every year at our Todah Rabah service, we thank all those who gave of their time, effort and creativity in the past year. We honor our volunteers and our professionals, since it is the combination of the two that makes us thrive. Todah Rabah, thank you very much. For such a small shul to have so many to thank, we are truly blessed. May there be even more people to thank next year as we continue to grow and flower along with our new trees.
