Junior Congregation
Shomrei Torah Junior Congregation
Shabbat is an integral part of our tradition and program at Shomrei Torah Religious School, in addition to being an important shared family value. We strongly encourage all our families attend a Shabbat service at least once a month and Shomrei Torah offers many various opportunities.
Junior congregation, held on alternate Shabbatot from 10:30-Noon is geared to meet the educational objectives of students in grades Gimmel (3rd grade) through Zayin (7th grade), while our younger students are encouraged to attend our Mini Minyan. Whatsmore, it’s engaging and very meaningful. When asked, our families and students unanimously enjoy these Shabbat programs!
We ask that students kindly take the responsibility to let our leader, Rabbi or Director of Congregational Learning to record their attendance whenever they attend services. The office maintain these records and the number of attended services will be reflected on the progress reports coming in both January and June. Students who attend 10 or more services, will be recognized at our closing assembling/tekes with a certificate and ice cream. Studetns who attend 18 services or more will be invited to join the Chai Club and receive a gift card to a local store.
In addition, each student has an opportunity to participate in an annual Friday night or Shabbat morning class-led service. Please refer to the family handbook or calendar for dates and times. Kindly mark your calendars. It is social, educational and most of all, bunches of fun!
