New Jersey born & bred, Bernie Kashmann grew up in Woodland Park and then Montville before moving to Wayne in 1998. With his wife, Jodi and sons Alex and Josh, they joined Shomrei Torah in 2004 when their sons began Religious School.

A graduate of Passaic Valley High School and William Paterson University, where he received at Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting., Bernie is a Financial Advisor at RBC Wealth Management in Parsippany, NJ, and has been with them since 1979.

Bernie credits his parents with having the greatest influence on his life. He states "My parents showed me how to love and how to work hard." These values show in his devotion to his family and friends. Married to Jodi since 1996, they just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on March 17. A dedicated Giants fan, along with his two sons, Alex, 17 and Josh, 14, they enjoy going to Giants games.

Bernie had always been involved in synagogue life, from his younger years when he was involved in his old synagogue in Cedar Grove and again when Alex and Josh were born and Jodi and Bernie became involved as parents. But what drew them to Shomrei Torah? Simply put, Bernie says, friends and Rabbi Mark.

Volunteerism comes naturally to Bernie. He says "I like doing things for people." An active member of the Veritans Club since 1982, a past president and current member of the Board of Life Trustees. Bernie has been on the nominating committee of Shomrei Torah twice.

So what does Bernie wish for the future? To Retire & Play! (Sounds good to us!)
