- Henry David Thoreau
The author of this quote must have had knowledge of Ed Seradzky whose virtue is surely perseverance. For the past 21 years, since Ed, and his wife, Roz of 39 years joined Shomrei Torah, he has devoted his time, and his energy to Shomrei Torah, serving on the Executive Board and a trustee for many years
Ed came to us via Natick, Massachusetts and Paterson. Boston University gave him his undergraduate degree and he received his law degree from New England School of Law. He is a sole practioner with a General Practice law firm in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
When asked about hobbies or other activities that he enjoys in his spare time, his reply was "spare time! When I am not working, you'll find me at Shomrei Torah." He has surely worked at Shomrei Torah., holding the following positions: financial secretary, corresponding secretary, treasurer and financial vice president for a total of twelve years. In addition, he served on various committees and has been the chairperson of the Law Committee and the Personnel Committee. However, in the spare time that he does have, he enjoys going into Manhattan, dining out, visiting museums and going to the theater. In the past Roz and Ed have traveled to Italy, Spain, France, England, Greece, Hawaii and many places in the United States and the Caribbean. They hope to travel to Israel in the future.
Ed proudly speaks of his two daughters, Jessica, the oldest, lives in Manhattan and is married to Matthew. She is a corporate business analyst. Michelle, a special education teacher, who is married to Sam lives on Long Island. Michelle and Sam made Ed and Roz the very happy grandparents of Sarah Tori who is six months old. Both girls attended Solomon Schechter and were Bat Mitzvah at Shomrei Torah. Roz has worked for the Pompton Lakes Schoool District as a speech therapist for over 21 years. Ed and Roz met each other in 1966 when they were campers at the YM-YWHA overnight camps in Milford, Pa.
When asked to express his thoughts about Shomrei Torah, he said that he finds the members to be very friendly, easy to get along with and blend well together.
Character is what a person exhibits when no one is looking." The fine character of Ed Seradzky has proven to be an asset for Shomrei Torah.
