COVID-19 Update (Wed, Mar 18)

It saddens me to say it, but with the newer restrictions down to gatherings of ten or less, coupled with the recommendation that as much as possible people stay home, we have closed the building entirely.  We
will not be having even Shabbat services until the government tells us things have improved.

Shomrei Torah and COVID-19 (Sun, Mar 15)

Dear Shomrei Torah Family:

Our Executive Board had an extending discussion about the needs of the our community and the ongoing Coronavirus situation. The health and wellbeing of our community remains our highest priority. The rabbinic concept of Pikuach Nefesh, saving a life, supersedes most other considerations in Jewish life. To that end we have made some difficult decisions.

Coronavirus Update (Thu, Mar 12)

Over the last 24 hours, we here at Shomrei Torah have been talking with health care providers, other synagogues and Houses of Worship as we struggle with how to respond to the current health crisis.

Some synagogues have chosen to close, others are cancelling programs but continuing to offer religious services, we have elected for now to fall into the latter category. We have cancelled all upcoming events except services. We will...Read more...

Religious School (Thu, Mar 12)

Dear Hebrew School Parents - Following the lead of most NJ synagogue schools, we will be closed this coming Sunday, March 15th. At which time we will be doing teacher training on distance learning and virtual classrooms. What we will do next will in part be dependent upon what the Wayne Public Schools decide to do, but will also be a topic of discussion within our synagogue leadership.  Our hope is that even if students...Read more...

No School Sunday (Thu, Mar 12)

Dear Parents - Along with many synagogue schools in northern NJ we will NOT be having Religious school this Sunday. We like many others are looking into the possibility of moving to virtual classrooms for the short term, however, everything I've been seeing has focused on 3rd to 7th grade, so I am not sure at this time what resources will be available for Sunday school classes.
