Welcome to Shomrei Torah.
Like all synagogues, we consider ourselves to be a warm, welcoming congregation. But what does that really mean? I suppose the best way to illustrate that is to share my story with you.
In the Spring of 2002, I moved into the area and knew that I wanted to join the local shul. My wife suggested that since I was active in the Men's Club at my old shul, that I attend one of their functions. I did and several of the members "chatted me up" throughout the day. When I left, I knew that I had acquired several new friends and that Shomrei Torah was the place for me.
I became active in not only the Men's Club of course, but also, with Rabbi Mark's guidance, more ritually observant then I had ever been before. As the years have gone by my circle of friends has grown wider and wider and I have, in return, became more involved in the administrative side of the shul. And, now, six short years after first learning of Shomrei Torah, I have been asked to be president.
Needless to say, my story is but just one of the many fascinating journeys that compromise our congregation of "Daveners, Do-ers, and Donaters". As you look through this website and get a glimpse of the incredible array of activities we offer, we hope that you, too, will want to join us - and join in.
