Shomrei Torah depends on the generosity of its members for donations, since income from dues provides less than two thirds of its
operating funds. We are committed to providing a range of programs and services to our members and our community, in addition to
maintaining the facilities and pay for other financial obligations. We have several major fund-raising opportunities throughout
the year, including,
Gift Cards or Scrip (Vendor List),
Shop to Earn,
High Holy Day Campaign, Calendar, President's Council and
Dinner Dance/Ad Journal. In addition to fundraising, various
Funds & Donations have been established for special purposes. It takes a lot for a synagogue to operate;
I want to donate!
The IRS permits you to deduct from your Federal Income Tax Return, donations made to the synagogue during a calendar year. For contributions under $250, your cancelled check would, in most instances, be sufficient evidence of your donation. However, for donations of $250 or more, you need a written receipt to substantiate these larger amounts.
Shomrei Torah will do everything we can to acknowledge your tax-deductible contributions.
We do so with individual letters sent at the time we receive many donations and with a
special end-of-year account summary of payments you made that we know are considered charitable donations.
