Hanukkah Extravaganza
The Town That Fought Hate
Puppet Play
December 18, 2005

What a wonderful way to kick off the beginning of Hanukkah with the puppet show, "The Town that Fought Hate"! On Sunday, December 18, 2005, children and adults alike enjoyed the performance and the aftershow "nosh." We feasted on the potato latkes, sing songs with our children and played the dreidle game!

Based on the children's book, The Christmas Menorahs: How a Town Fought Hate by Janice Cohn, Young Audiences and the Catskill Puppet Theatre coproduced this puppet play to teach grammar school children the importance of tolerance and acceptance. The story of how a community banded together to help young Isaac and his family fight back when they became victims of a hate crime. Using music, masks, shadows and an amazing array of puppetry techniques, The Town that Fought Hate recounts the remarkable events of the 1993 incident that took place in Billings, Montana.

The PTO would like to thank all those who helped with the serving and cleanup and a special thanks to Jeff Ort for his help in the preparation of the delicious latkes. We don't want to forget to mention that the Men's Club also contributed to the Hanukkah program with the proceeds from the Israel pins that were sold. Thank you for your support!
