Shomrei Torah Religious School was proud to be one of four schools in 2005 year (and only one in 75 nationally,
since its inception in 1999) to earn the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism Framework for Excellence Award.
And even prouder to have remained a Framework for Excellence Award meriting special commendation since 2005.
This honor is achieved by religious schools that demonstrate a 'best practices' approach to high quality education
by helping to provide students with the foundation and assets to cultivate, strengthen and sustain their Jewish education,
identity and commitment.
Shomrei Torah Religious School was recognized because:
- Students benefit from the guidance of an involved rabbi, leadership of a motivating principal,
creativity of experienced teachers and commitment of conscientious parents.
- With academics at its core, the Shomrei Torah curriculum stress extra-curricular and active family
and community participation to enhance education. Annually, we have visited the elderly at Cypress Gardens,
mentored our own students in prayer and reading and asisted in distributing household necessities for the WIN
food pantry. We have celbrated holidays in the synagogue, the sukkah and our own homes, individually, with our
classmates and with our families.
- An active Education Committee and Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) has
supported our school by helping to set policy, procure new resources and present interactive programming of
important Jewish events.
- Shomrei Torah students have supplemented their Jewish experience through Hebrew High SChool with Camp Ramah,
Kadima, USY, KOACH and trips to Israel. Our students and graduates have become regular Torah readers in our
synagogue, leaders of our Shabbat and minyann services and even teachers in our own religous school.
- Shomrei Torah Religous School offers our students the connection to a caring and engaging environment that
will become the cornerstone for their future inthe greater Jewish and world communities.
Shomrei Torah is a proud recipient of the Framework for Excellence Award. Living and learning a Jewish life is a
work in progress. And, we look to continue as a catalyst to encourage Jewish development on an ongoing basis.
