Welcome!
We are Shomrei Torah, the Wayne Conservative Congregation, which was founded in 1973 to serve the Greater Wayne Jewish community. From our humble beginnings, when services were held in a one room building, to our present facility with its jewel-like sanctuary, Shomrei Torah has grown and continues to evolve. Shomrei Torah is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and is an egalitarian congregation - both men and women contribute to our vitality in equal measure. We are a synagogue that is open to and welcoming of interfaith families and we provide opportunities for everyone to become involved in congregational life. While our outlook is progressive, our atmosphere is clearly "haimishe" (down to Earth). From the moment a member of our family welcomes you and you are honored at our New Member Shabbat, you will realize that Shomrei Torah is not merely a destination for fulfilling religious pursuits, but is also your second home.

For Howard Hook, growing up in Queens gave him a different perspective on Jewish life than he found when he and his wife Ilissa came to Wayne 7 years ago.
Aharon Davidi, one of Israel’s first paratroopers and a contemporary of Israeli founding fathers such as Moshe Dayan and Ariel Sharon, died Feb. 11 at 84.
Rick Kaufman, a decidedly eccentric character both tolerated and viewed with affection by many residents of an equally eccentric northern California town, died Feb. 18 at 63.
