Sanctuary
Shomrei Torah's sanctuary is the jewel in our crown. The bima was designed and built by local artist Jeffrey Packard in 1987.
The Holocaust Torah has a history that is printed on the wall nearby in English and Hebrew. The Holocaust
Torah is in a special memorial ark made of six strips of metal to represent the 6 million Jews who died in the Shoah.
It is made to look like barbed wire and its center was made to look like flames.
There is history on the Aron Hakodesh, the Parokhet and mantels, the Ner
Tamid and the stained glass windows. Learn more about the design of the sanctuary.

The Pittel Social Hall is available for private or public events (weddings, B'nai Mitzvah, parties, etc).

Library
I am donating to the library, Holocaust Testimonies: European Survivors and American
Liberators in New Jersey in memory of my beloved father,
Saul Weinberger, a Holocaust Survivor whose personal story is featured in this book. In
1994, my father was interviewed at Kean University, and gave his personal account
of his ordeal to Joseph Preil, who took over 150 testimonies from survivors as well
as American liberators to create a beautifully written and powerful book. Growing up,
my brother and I never knew what our father had endured. He refused to talk about it.
Two years ago, I received the book and read for the very first time his painful account
of the atrocities of the Holocaust. It was very emotional. In donating this book, my hope
is that his story, and the countless stories from other Holocaust
survivors, will never be forgotten.
